Miscellaneous

Olympic Highlights from Beijing

1) Watch Ramazan Sahin (Turkey) and Buvaysa Saytiev (Russia) claim victories in the 66kg and 74kg classes. @ the 47 minute mark Saitiev scores his first point of the Olympic Finals - Rub The Tummy!! LINK...

2) Wrist roll spotted at 2008 Olympics Pay special attention at 1:20:00 and you will see a wrist roll to a underhook - throw by high single (finish with limp arm)

3) Can you guess what takedown/set up is used at the 2:05:00 mark - a wrist roll by Olympic Champion Henry Cejudo: Link...

4) Olympic Champion Henry Cejudo indulges in a low single-low single WADA at the Games to advance - at the 1:28:00 mark: Link...

Jonathan’s Favorites

1)      4 x NCAA AA and 3 x Champion Abas of Fresno St. uses the wrist roll to a single ( at about the 2:37 mark) this was one of his favorite set-ups...he also was an Olympic silver medalist in '04...

2)      Two Cutbacks and a Snap Back

3)      Finals of Midlands features a nice wrist roll by the defending NCAA champion @ 197 lbs. I have always trusted in this set-up. I used it in college (all the time) after seeing Alan Fried of OSU use it. The first time I saw it was when John Smith showed it - but Fried did it a little different and that's the way I show it.  When I see it being used by champions of today I have to take note

4)      Tom Brands Rubs the Tummy

5)      Tom Brands Uses the Rub the Tummy roughly 22 seconds in to the Olympics final on his way to victory

6)      Olympic Champion does a peek out after a head down shot at 22 second mark

7)      This kid reminds me of Bradley Beemer

8)      0:35 area a missed wrist - roll by the #1 Ranked wrestler in NCAA at 125 pounds from Minnesota

9)      @ :13 Two Time Olympic champion B. Saitiev elects to do nothing at all following this wrist roll...he is wrestling another Olympic Champion ( which means it's probably pretty common that your opponent will reach following a wrist roll)

10)   Watch this guys STYLE of wrestling...he is very impressive for his size

11)   Five seconds into the match #1 ranked Mike Poeta misses a wrist roll

Miller, Danny

1)      2008 NHSCA Sophomore Nationals, vs. Brandon Nelson, IN
